  • Studebaker Signs

Just wondering if anyone was watching this Studebaker Erskine sign.
I was surprised to see it sell for $735 plus another $30 shipping.
For it's condition I was surprised it went for more than $300.

I had that sign on my watch list & the seller must be extremely pleased with the bidding.

    \"QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER\"
    MELBOURNE.

If anyone is interested I can supply a reproduction of that sign in same size, color, proportions etc for a mere fraction of the selling price. Below a low resolution sample of the sign. The reproduction would be on foam board laminated and easily displayed in any indoor setting for under $100.

Antique signs have really shot up in value. Be careful of the fakes from India!

I wish Ebay would do something about the fake signs. I notice the ones from India are generally marked "used" which is not correct, they a just distressed reproductions. Generally, if you look closely at the detail, the lettering is not sharp. Can't stop them from being sold, but again don't understand why Ebay does not require them to marked as reproductions.
