And here I thought how difficult can removing the clock from the dash be??

First my 70 yr old back cried and wailed with all the twisting........let alone the stream of colorful epithets spilling from my mouth.

After 30 minutes the deed was done!

Believe me I was close to cutting a large hold in the side of the fiberglass dash!.....there is a hole there already, too small for anything.....wonder why Stude put it there??

Not that I am aware of.....the emergency hood release is effectuated by the removal of the rubber plugs underneath the car, then putting a large flat blade screwdriver up in the hole and pushing on the release mechanism.

I thought I read somewhere that the key was to just make that hole in the side of the dash bigger? I need to pull the clock in my '70 but haven't attempted it yet.

Mike first take the front seat out. Second, pull the battery cable, third place some soft material on the front floor, (for your back) have a good amount of small sockets, offsets, etc. A strong light so you can see while you cuss:-) Good luck!!!

YES, by all means... make the hole larger. It's hidden by the aluminum cover anyway. Makes life a lot easier...

Why hack up the dash?? Sometimes life is not supposed to be easy.....I was able to get the clock out and in with no cutting.....and happy I was able to....

That's for sure. After all, 30 minutes to do the job isn't bad.
Besides, working on Studebakers is what keeps us out of trouble. LOL
