Fun film - still a favorite film that I'll watch occasionally when it crops up on TV. I have only ever seen the first in the series, and saw it in the theater when it came out during my high school days. Love the Stude ad on the newspaper. I know it was supposed to be a kind of joke, but still cool.Dean Seavers

Nox,
The title of the movie is Back to the Future.
Its a science fiction comedy from the mid 1980's, and really made Michael J. Fox into a movie star.
Also not a bad car movie in a lot of ways, and your Josephine would fit right in.
...and if you enjoy it, there a sequels!

Thanx, I've seen that film!
I was also thinking it ought to be a -56 ad in the paper but at least it's an Ultra Vista!
(& as a Citroen DS person there's a taxi in it that's pretty special & that I've also seen in real life.)Last edited by Noxnabaker; 11-08-2018, 02:00 AM.

I'm a big fan of the Back to the Future movies. I watch them whenever they show up on my TV screen. Love the '50s cars. One of the scenes when he returns to his current life shows a '53 Studebaker Starliner parked at the curb.

Thanks for posting. I always enjoyed the movies, but I hadn't seen the Studebaker ad on the back of the newspaper. I did notice the Hawk parked on the street beside the courthouse on the night he goes back to the future.Mark L

RE: should have had a ad for a '56 on a November '55 paper...
Probably most of the public would not notice something like this. Prop folks were told they needed a ad with a '55 car on it to bring home that Marty is back in '55 and a '56 car would muddy that up. I haven't seen that movie in a long long time so not sure if there were other cues about what time of the year it was?

Have now spent a lot of time trying to locate authentic 1955 Studebaker adverting literature bearing the phrase; "The Car of the Future".
The first question being, was there an actual 1955 Paper bearing this phrase, or is the paper Marty is holding a contrived movie prop?
As others above have noted, Nov 5, 1955 is rather late in the year for a dealer to be featuring a '55 sedan, when the new and much different (appearing) 1956 Studebaker's were being promoted.
And my second question is, Did Studebaker Corp. ever use this "The Car of the Future" blurb. If so, When and where?
