Nice! I like how you get a lot of "wrap" for both the AC and alternator belts with your set up. You won't have to get tons of tension on the belts to prevent slippage.

(2 AC belts? It must get mighty hot there in Aladamnbama )

What's with the exhaust crossover? Single exhaust?

That was the plan all along.

Yes, it does, but I'm in Jawja, It gets hot here to. I left Aladamnbama in 1965 and let my passport expire and they won't let me back in.

That's the exhaust I had on the engine while it was on the run-in stand last week.
I had the engine and tranny in place but had to pull it back out to rattle can paint the firewall semigloss black. While I had the engine out, I washed off all that gawd awful ugly gold paint (sorry Dick and Dave) and put a nice semigloss black paint job on it.
I re-installed the engine and tranny and moved all the things from the run-in stand to the installed engine. Now I can start the engine in the car for all the people (at least one a day) that want to hear what a nice Studebaker engine sounds like.

Another thing about the crossover pipe. When I built the frame brackets for the motor mounts, I lowered the engine. I forget how much, maybe an inch. When I was installing the crossover, I was having a hard time getting it in place. Then it dawned on me, I had lowered the engine. I used a rosebud and heated and bent the pipe just below the driver's side exhaust manifold flange. Then it slipped in with about 1/8" clearance between the pipe and the bell crank and about 1/8" between the pipe and the oil pan. Of course that's all temporary, Buttercup will have duals! (why is spellcheck telling me duals is spelled wrong? maybe I should have typed 'twin exhaust.)

Thank you Gary. Knowing you have been into cars since-------------- well, ever, I consider that a great compliment.

It's actually only gawd awful and ugly if it's on wheels.

Today I bolted the RF fender on in preparation of modifying the radiator mount. That's when I discovered I'm going to have to massage the inner fender for AC compressor clearance. I've never had this problem before. But I DID lower this engine about an inch. It's not touching, but it sure is close.

I could probably get more work done if this piece of junk wasn't in my way. <G>

Can't tell for sure, but if the pulley clears, just cut the ears off the compressor. Not that it makes any difference now, but a single belt will drive that Sanden just fine. And a slightly shorter belt will raise the compressor a bit if you have enough clearance on top.

Or a well placed whack or two will fix it in 60 seconds. BFH/BFG.

And....what is that great black beast?

I have been using the Sanden 7 series compressor. They are smaller, and work as well.

LOL. No, Robert finished that job about 5 years ago. Now he's building a1931Cadillac Coupe/Sedan. It was a V8 car but he stretched the frame and front fenders. He'll make new hood tops and hood sides as well as new running boards and make it into a V16 car like Big Burtha, the big black one.
