Took the left axle out. Plan is to inspect the bearings and replace as needed and the axle seals.
I don't have a slide hammer or axle puller, although I probably could make one. A few taps with a hammer on the race and it moved, so I heated the housing up and used a bearing splitter on the axle. Using my dead blow on the splitter and it popped out.
Oops, it's going to need bearings.
This also fell out. It looks like it butts up against the spider gears. It must have broken off since I cannot imagine it would be loose overtime you go to grease the bearings.

Maple syrup. Nothing more I can do until I get the right side out so I can drop out the differential.
