  • Avanti Museum Shelbyville Tennessee

Does anyone have photos of the Avanti Museum when it existed in Shelbyville Tennessee? Virgil Marple whose Avantis were displayed at the "museum" passed away December 23, 2017. Any info or photos especially would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's funny, I live in Shelbyville, but never knew it existed. The old Studebaker Restoration shop that was near the square has been gone for quite a while. Gene Cunningham may know.

I believe the fiberglass body of which photos I posted here are is at the SNM: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...-cars)-survive

The information card stated it was 'On loan from Virgil Marple'.

        Studebaker Dealership or Restoration Shop

Working from memory which is always dangerous I believe the shop in Shelbyville displayed some of Vigirl Marples Avantis and fiberglass bodies and was ultimately to become an Avanti Museum. Sorry for the confusion.

Does anyone have interior and exterior photos of this garage?

        Thanks

Got an address for the place? Try the Middle TN Chapter of the SDC as well..... If you can get an address, I can get you current photos.

Google Bob Brown Motors and give bob a call, he might can provide info as well.

Maybe, i remember seeing an Avanti in his shop a couple years ago. That building is crammed full of Studes. He had the Tow Truck at the last show I believe.

The photos in the link are of those I photographed at Virgil's farm in 2016.

I don't know anything about this collection, but I don't believe I saw a single vehicle in those pictures that wasn't interesting. A fantastic group of automobiles.

I do have some pictures of the Avanti museum n Shelbyville before Virgil moved all the cars back to MN. Have to do a little digging before I can post anything.
