Are you referring to the flathead in a 1962?

AMC did. They used their flathead inline 6 until 1965!

Yup that's it. I have never driven either and OHV 6 or Flathead with an Automatic. I think the OHV with 112 hp would be peppy versus a flathead with an A/T.

Well, I was thinking about pulling my R2 motor out and replacing it with a V8 flathead.... Because I can....

I wonder if you could fit a straight 8 in there.

Ought to drive about like a '60 Lark VI. If it wasn't so dang far away I'd snap it up today.

I saw a 63 Champ truck with a Flathead six for sale on Craigslist awhile back. One could argue that the flatly is a better engine than the OHV. Why not use a 259 instead?

That car is begging for a V-8 swap.
I know the car is parked in a garage, but I find it strange how people advertise a car and don't include a picture of the front end.

My first starter Stude back in '78 was a '47 Champion. so I have a special affection for flatheads. Plus I didn't grow up with Studebakers or flatheads, so it was also a past is a different country dealie with me.

Then you have the kissing doors, the "dimmer" under the clutch which is really a starter button, the light switch on the right of the steering column that turns instead of pulls, a split "windshield" on booth ends, three on the tree in a world of automatics, etc....
