Need a good carb for my 57 V8. Don't know if it is a 259 or 289. How do you tell?

From What I am told there is a stamped number on the front of the block > V OR VC is 259 and P or PC is 289

Look on the TOP, Left, Front corner of the block for the STAMPED (recessed) into the machined flat pad, Engine Number, ignore any "Raised" Numbers!

Actually for a Carb. it does NOT matter which V8 you have they are all the same!
Are you wanting a Two Barrel, or a Four Barrel?

A Canadian built '57 Silver Hawk COULD have the Commander 259 Engine, just FYI.
All South Bend '57 Hawks have the President 289.

Really doesn't make a lot of difference, as pretty much the same intake manifolds and carburetors were used on both.
