  • In search of a 1956 Studebaker radio

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct page or not so if I am not, please steer me to the correct one.
It doesn't need to be in working condition because it'll berebuilt afterwards anyway.
Thanks in advance for any information

Does anyone know where to turn to purchase a 1956 Studebaker radio? Here's a picture of the dash that it'll go into.

    Here's what it looks like.

I can build one for you, if you like, either stock AM, or AM/FM with additional features. If you send me an email, not a PM, we can discuss prices. My email is in my profile.

      Thanks Roy, I'll e-mail you
Ironically I've been checking e-bay for a while & nothing came up but it seems as soon as I don't, there's one there. Just my luck :-)

Yours for $95 free shipping. Or make me an offer, very flexible.

This one is a '63-'65 All Transistor Delco with small narrow push buttons and probably for a Lark Type, that possibly COULD be made to fit but not correct.

Be sure in your " '56 Studebaker Radio search" that you get a Hawk, not Sedan/Wagon Radio.

Dan Skidmore is advertising in Turning Wheels again. His price might be better.

Thanks StudeRich for the offer & extra info, it's greatly appreciated.
I am not as well versed on this subject as many others, all I knew was, it needed to fit into the odd shaped hole in the dash :-)

Excuse my ignorance but, where do I find Turning Wheels?
I'm out of town until Monday on a classic car cruise so if I don't reply within a short time, I will when I'm back.
                Thanks for your understanding

The Turning Wheels ads are on the home page under news. His # is 310 398 7431. He has restored radios. Turning Wheels is the award winning magazine put out by the SDC and is worth the price of membership alone.

I have one that needs a total rebuild (took two hawks to build one.) If you are interested, I can send you pictures.

I bought my radio, fully restored from California and looks a dream and works pretty good too. However, I had to go to RediRad and bought a nifty adaptor that enables an AM radio to use the FM frequency with the use of a smart phone... and now I'm able to tune in to stations all over the world - love it! The last photo is of my old radio (kept it)

Turning Wheels is the monthly Club Newsletter. It's in the form of a high-gloss top quality magazine available only to members. I believe you can subscribe for just the magazine, but the club dues each year are so cheap it doesn't make sense not to just join in the first place. Most especially if you have a Studebaker. The resources between the covers make Turning Wheels worth its weight in gold!
