  • Did Studebaker offer a factory option for a dump bed on the Champ?

The person offering this Champ for sale says it has a factory dump bed. Did Studebaker offer a dump bed option from the factory?

Nothing from Studebaker, but there were plenty of outside vendors to meet the needs of anyone out there with money to spend. The bed would need to be really reinforced in the floor to handle the strain of having all that force needed to lift a full load. And by the looks of things, someone has really beefed up the leaf springs in the rear - maybe one ton springs?

I am more interested in the truck itself. Looks to be a 3/4 ton, and if it is in fact a 7E10, it would be one of only 172 sold domestically by Studebaker for the 1962 Champ model year...

If it was a 289 with 5 speed O/D I might have some interest.

This '57 also had a locally installed dump conversion to the existing box: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...ar-pickup-1957

There is a good reason there were only 172 H.D. 3/4 Ton 7E10 Pickups... they are 170 OHV Sixes!
