Champion 1947

I have bough a studebaker champion 1947 regal de luxe. The problem is that I found it in a barn without any papers. Where can I get the registration paper or certificate ?
The serrial number is G-337844. The body type 7GW3-5015.
I am from belgium and the car has run in the fifty''s in Belgium.

Start by contacting a local car club. They may have members who have been thru the process of getting a title for old cars in your country and can give you good advise. Be sure you obtained a bill of sale from the seller. In the state I live in (Illinois), a notorized bill of sale, an appraisal, and a few other documents are required to get a new title issued.

I would think ordering a complete set of production papers from the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, IN USA would be helpful. If they have them, they are fairly inexpensive and it will give you a starting point in the cars history. They will likely show the car was shipped CKD (completely knocked down) to the Studebaker distributor in Belgium, whom may have been the VW affiliate also.

Welcome to the SDC Forum!

The Serial Number and body ID are both for a 1948 Champion built in South Bend, IN, USA, not a "1947".
The body style number is for a 1948 Champion Deluxe four door sedan, not a "regal de luxe" (that would be a W5).

The advice to obtain the original production order from the Studebaker National Museum, as well as contacting local car club are both good. Depending on your relationship with your local vehicle registration officers, it may also be a good idea to inquire of them right away and follow their advice. People support what they help create but are sometimes leery of what is thrust upon them.
