    I agree that it is an "unusual/odd" custom. It is a 1951 with a continental kit as well as the strange paint job.

          You have to wonder who bought it and where it ended up.

          Likely a repaint at some time in it's life, because that custom paint job probably didn't look so "cool" by 1955.

              Any guesses on the car's paint colors? Yellow and green, maybe? Cream and brown?

                You asked, my feeling is gray with black accent and wheels. If it was yellow it would be at least the same hue as the model's skirt.

                  That paint line looks something like the abandoned N series of circa 1952.

                      Looks like a part of the tilt mechanism, possibly a stop to keep the tire from hitting the trunk.
