The Navy Dodge pickups we were getting in the '90s had a metal plate on the driver's door that listed most of the Chrysler line including DeSoto!

Our '79 Dodge pickup (U.S. Built) has a data plate on the inside of the driver's side door which lists multiple Chrysler makes, including Dodge, Fargo and Desoto.

Farmer near my childhood home had one,it was pretty basic & was powered by Chrysler flat head 6, no ball of fire but adequate for what he wanted it for.

dleroux, there is a light blue early 60s or late 50s model long bed 4 wheel drive one here in town we see regularly too !

In Canada, Dodge dealers sold Dodge trucks and Plymouth dealers sold Fargos, which were the same truck with the name plates changed. This, and most other Canadian nameplates, came to an end soon after free trade in auto parts between Canada and the U.S. started in 1965 (long before NAFTA). A friend of mine owns a 1953 Mercury panel truck. When the chrome Mercury nameplates were taken off the rear doors during restoration, he found they covered the Ford name stamped into the door metal.

As a kid in Minneapolis, we would occasionally see Canadian cars and we really loved them. They were like our American cars with different grilles, different side trim, and different names. The doctor Blake TV series is Australian and has a great mix of British cars, Canadian cars, and an occasional American car.

I have a Mercury tail gate in the shed. I was going to modify it to make a Mercury out of my Model A hot rod but changed my mind.

What year is the Merc tailgate? All Merc Flareside and Styleside tailgates are getting very hard to find, as no one reproduces them.

This is an early gate. Maybe F1 or F100.
