I am embarrassed to admit that I simply can not manage to identify these trim pieces. They look like the hood ornament on a Speedster... but without the plastic insert. One has magic marker writing on the bottom saying "1953 Champ & Comm. 2 and 4 door sedan. 4dr Land Cruiser". You'd think that would settle it. But I can not find a single image of a Studebaker wearing these. They measure 23" long and have a curved contour. One has black, white, and gold on the shield in the plastic insert... the other has red, white, and gold. Could they be an accessory or after-market piece? I give up!

In the 1953 Accessories Catalog these are called 'Deluxe' hood ornaments. The short one is AC-2318 and the long one is AC-2427. No idea why the different colors in the emblem.
Parts price book indicates they were for sedan bodies, short one for Champion, long one for Commander.

Thank you all. I did get these at the Naugle sale. I thought that one would look nice as a replacement on a 55 hardtop... but of course the hood contour is different. Guess I need to buy a sedan now too.Fosco
