  • Dogs allowed at the car show?

Hello, I would like to come to the car show May 7, but was wondering if I can bring my dogs to the show? I have two shih tzu's, one is 12 lbs the other is 21 lbs. Also have a Chihuahua, probably my wife will carry that one. Not sure who to ask about this.

    Board them in a kennel.

If I were able to go, should I bring my boa constrictor? He does fit nicely around my neck and if I put him down he won't run off while I am looking at a part.

Never can understand why, dogs don’t like car shows.

Really? With all those hubcaps and wheel covers to lift their hind legs against?

Why waste your time being grouchy and rigid? This place is supposed to be fun.

Personally I take my dog many places but if there is going to be a crush of people I leave her in the car. Then I come back and walk her every hour or two.

I don't know the rules, but they may not be allowed in the buildings.

Someone went to the expense to make a Studebaker style dog wagon at last year's International Event. They never barked and were cute, too.
Not too many people last year and everyone had a "laid back" attitude.
Many more people will come this year.

Cute Dogs! There have been lots of comments(mine was tongue in cheek) but the one thing that has not been brought up is possible liability. The City of Tucson holds a Street Fair in the fall and spring on 4th Avenue. People used to bring their dogs, and other animals, including a Boa Constrictor wrapped around around women's neck. An unfortunate incident occurred with an animal bite that involved a child. The City was sued, as well as the vendors and promoters. It was settled out of court but the city banned all animals from that point on.

I know many will say that their animals will not bite anyone. I had a dog that was protective of me and my family. I had to tell him stay if anyone came up to me and got close. He was protective, that's for sure.

If a dog is in a unknown place, or unknown crowd, they can react in nervous, protective way. So I guess the question to be answered is would anyone that is a true dog lover would want to subject their dog to a nervous condition and accept liability for possible nervous actions of their dog? Would SDC okay the possible liability?

I agree with Bob. Before the plague, we had Friday night open concerts downtown. It was loud and crowded. Many people brought dogs who were not used to noise and crowds. Those dogs were nervous and frightened - just the kind of situation where a dog might bite out of fear.

Last year, people lived in their RV's and Campers at the Fair Grounds during the Event. I only saw these dogs in my 2 days of attendance.

Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Use your own good judgement. Do not bring an overprotective pet of which you cannot mantain control. Dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times.

Those are Sam Sandifer's dogs (and carriage) from North Carolina. Those are 3 sweet dogs and love the attention they get. And they are well trained to stay in their carriage.
