The last time I drove a Stude cross country to an SDC Intl Meet was 2005, from Kentucky to Spokane, in a 56J. I did the trip alone, and had a great time, of course the 56J had AC though. Coming back, I got food poisoning and spent 3-4 days in the VA hospital in Ames Iowa. Upon discharge, I was still not well enough to drive the final 500-600 miles home, so my brother and bro-in-law came to Ames and drove me the rest of the way home in the 56J. I would do it again, probably solo, as I do nowadays on a motorcycle. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to do it on a MC though, may have to go back to Studes eventually. LOL

Of course I will be driving a Stude to Indi this year though.

If you find someone that is coming with an empty trailer, I am considering buying a car in Mt Vernon, WA that I would be happy if it could come along for the ride!

        Randy, et al

My plans have changed do to family circumstances. I will probably be flying to Alabama to drive from Birmingham to Tucson. My niece is going to be moving in with me as she needs help to get started on a new life.

I guess I better set my sites on South Bend next year.

Hope everyone has a great time.

check the itinerary cited in #34 above and see if any of those stops work for you. Maybe Lincoln, NE?

Randy: Do you plan on using the interstate system, if so, I would take 94 out of Minnesota into Wisconsin down 39 to Bloomington than 74 to Indy.
I usually like the secondary roads many are fine, even though it takes longer. Ed

will take several secondary roads. I also like them, like the 60-65 mph pace and enjoy the small towns,

Randy, how did this play out? I’d love to see your ā€˜47 parked next to the one we brought to Indy.

Randy was leaving Springfield IL for Indianapolis this morning. He's probably still driving as of 10 am Sept. 7. When I last saw him in Lincoln, NE, it was all smiles.

His caravan ended up pretty thin on cars. Jeff and Paula Grohs from California were with Randy in their 2006 Avanti convertible, but they drove all the way to Indy on Labor Day to meet friends. I had to stay back in Lincoln to get new tires. The distance/heat/age was breaking steel belts. I wobbled into Lincoln like I was riding a clown bicycle.

We have new tires this morning, and we'll be leaving the hotel soon. Should be in Indy late tonight.
