2021 SDC International Meet speakers or topics

As the Indy chapter continues to plan for the 2021 International meet we are interested in what the membership would like to have as topics for seminars or a particular speaker we can contact. Any ideas out there?

We will soon have information up on the forum, the covid virus has slowed our ability to get contracts signed as fast as we would like. It appears things are looking up here in Indiana and we are planning a great meet.

I will always listen to Stu Chapman. I hope he will be in good health to travel. (For that matter I hope to as well). If Stu has contacts that were with the automobile side of the corporation, if he would have you contact them as well that would be terrific. I would like to hear some stories about life in the bunker the last days of Studebaker automobiles.

I have wondered about Stu. I haven't seen him comment on this forum for awhile, even with '65-'66 items. I hope that he is well.

We have Stu on the list of possible but, health issues may be a concern. We will keep you posted. Please keep posting ideas. We have a two part seminar scheduled on Studebaker's war effort, trucks and the weasel. We are sure this will be a highlight of the seminars.

Andy Beckman is a good speaker and has access to many subjects. A three way discussion between Bob Palma, George Kerm, and Ted Harbit would draw an audience as well.

How about Bob Marcks of Marcks, Hazelquist and Powers, the designers who did the '66 facelift and who had lots of ideas about '67 (some prototypes were, in fact, fabricated) and subsequent years? See Stu Chapman's book "My Father the Car"and "Studebaker, The Complete Story" by Patrick Foster.

Roger mentioned Patrick Foster's book, and I think Foster would be a very interesting speaker focusing on Studebaker and the other post-war independents. BP could get in touch with him.

Ed Reynolds, having been in the parts business for a long time and being the son of a former Studebaker engineer, would certainly have a lot to talk about.
Richard Quinn would also be a good speaker, perhaps he could bring part of his vast memorabilia collection to discuss (sort of a show-and-tell).

As I thought you'd have Jeff Rice on your list, there is Phil Harris at Fairborn Stude, he could bring along his side kick Malcolm Berry. Digger Dave Molnar is an excellent engine builder (Engine Masters and Masters of Motors in 2021). Ted Harbit of course. Jim Pepper is always an excellent presentation. Nimesh (Nash) Solanki is surfacing again and has some beautiful pieces of performance parts. Hope this helps you find some speakers, Bill.
