  • Hard to pull gear lever into position

Just purchased a 1961 Studebaker Lark Auto and noticed the gear lever is hard to pull into the gears

Check your motor mounts and (rear) bellhousing mounts. Also. check the shift linkage rubber bushing. Replace as required, then adjust the shift linkage per the shop manual.

Also, LHC automatic trans cars had a spacer under the left side bellhousing mounts. I assume your car is a RHC since you are in Australia, not sure if the RHC cars used the spacer or not under one of the bellhousing mounts. Check the parts manual to determine whether your car should have one or not. (On LHD cars, if the spacer is left out, it can impact the shift rod adjustment.)

In the future Stevo please pay attention to what the Top Line Forum Name says, this is one from the Past just for a International Meet.

The ones in Daily use are: "Tech Talk", "General Discussions", and "For Sale Wanted", sometimes, "Member's Rides", so the Tech. Forum would be the correct Forum for this New string you created, but it will be Ok for now.
