This is a minor issue, but a user here likes to respond to my posts in irrelevant ways. For my parts for sale posts, for example, there are never inquiries about the parts or purchasing, but irrelevant input, like that car isn't white it is off-white. It is harmless, but frankly I don't have the time to drop what I am doing to login thinking there is a serious and beneficial message waiting, only to find nonsense.

Like you just said. its a minor issue, life is complex enough without you stressing yourself over pablum nonsense.Originally posted by khickey View PostThis is a minor issue, but a user here likes to respond to my posts in irrelevant ways. Ken,
Your post has a valid point but as things go on the forum, people respond without answering your post/question. The answer is no there is no way to block anyone from responding in whatever fashion they choose. If things go very sideways, there is a method to take care of that. You do not want to poke the bear.
As many have noticed, many times a topic can veer off course from the original post. The forum is provided as a free service to Studebaker folks and replies fit in that category. A couple of points: free advice can be the most expensive advice you can get for free. Secondly, the Pennsylvania Dutch have a saying that goes like this: what you get for nothing is worth that already.
Now there are other ways to post an ad for sale. Some will charge a fee whether you sell or not. Chapter Newsletters will post an ad at not charge. I don't think Craigslist is charging for parts ads yet but they may. If you want to get the largest number of people for Studebaker, the forum is the best.
Now remember, as has been pointed out again, we are all adults here

I guess that I have spent too much time meandering through the chaos on the Facebook-Studebaker Addicts forum to worry about an unwanted response to a thread here. I find the back and forth here a breath of fresh air after spending time on that forum. Sorry this probably one of those unwanted responses that you're talking about, but this is a forum where we all have the right to voice an opinion as long as it doesn't break any rules for decorum and content.

I wonder about some people's brains, how they can be so obtuse at times and what their motivations are. Perhaps lonely and wanting to be apart or something? Or perhaps a deficiency in logic or response from their off colored gray matter?
Sometimes I respond out of politeness, but other times it is quite irritating and can creep me out. I'm just glad these people are online and not my neighbors. Or crap, I never thought of that... maybe they are my neighbors?!! I gotta move!

Jeez Rafe, that's not at all subjective!Originally posted by Rafe Hollister View PostI wonder about some people's brains, how they can be so obtuse at times and what their motivations are. Isn't it funny that everywhere we go we are always the one who is the smartest, most logical, and correct in every way - the "kingpost" of what is correct in all respects. And it's always those other idiots that need to shape up, start being more like me, or just be blocked if they aren't?
Some folks tend to be more "expanded" in their attempts to try to understand the mindful processes or "brainflow" of others. Some folks are more tightly posted than a "ONE WAY" sign.
But something I've found here is that perhaps even if what one person thinks about another person's "facts" or opinions and them being rubbish, there may be others that can relate to it completely and it's very helpful. And I guess it becomes the task of each individual reader to ascertain the usefulness of an input - not just one person deciding that for the group. That's why this is a PUBLIC forum. A collection of "different" ideas.
Now I can understand the annoyance with "nitpicking" about a color on a part for sale. But to some the absolute correct color is important - at least to them. At least at the moment we don't have someone going through posts complaining about everyone's punctuation, ; - caPitoliZation, and spellin.
And for those who find this site a might frustrating at times, I'd suggest going over and opening a thread on the H.A.M.B, and if you live through it, I'm sure you will return very happy with this site.
So, be patient! Everybody's different. And honestly, you guys wouldn't be Studebaker owners if you weren't a little "weird" anyway! LOL!
