Can't Change Birthdate from 01-01-1000

I go to the page where it shows my Birthday along with other information all of which can be updated except Birthday.

I can't turn PM email Notifications ON until I set my BD. (why do this notification require a birthdate anyway?)

Here's how to change your birth date.

At the top right hand corner of the screen, click on your screen name. Then click on my profile. On that screen on the left side click on user settings and on the next screen you can change your birth date. Per forum rules, please also enter your location.
