  • Photos: JPG versus PNG

I was posting some pics the other day, was frustrated by the fact that a .PNG photo uploaded at 1024 x 768 would only show up at about 350 pixels. I resaved the photo on my PC as .JPG, uploaded it and could have it full size or smaller. Is this just the way the Forum software works that it treats JPG and PNG files differently?

PNG image 1283 x 1017 , only 31.4 KB file size, as big as LARGE and FULL SIZE renders.

JPG image of same file 1283 x 1017 , 236 KB file size, inserted as "FULL". Selecting "LARGE" results in same size image.

JPG image, 1283 x 1017 inserted as "THUMBNAIL". Can also be set to SMALL and MEDIUM; LARGE AND FULLSIZE are apparently at 1024 x 768 limit, look the same.

Hey Gary - the Forum software automatically resizes picture attachments based on format, as you surmised. It's a rather random thing, but there it is
