Just curious why most of us don't use the 'Like' button. I will do a post, get great comments, a hundred people look at it, and maybe one or two 'likes'. 'Likes' are big on Facebook, why not here?
On another note, let's all thank the administrators for getting the 'edit' feature working again!

PS check out my SUV (Studebaker Utility Vehicle)... and gimme me some 'likes'.

I agree. There is a tiny, faint like button, but more common smilies, frowns, and caring would be nice. That and the minimum of 10 or so characters makes a simple agreement ( or whatever) awkward. Maybe it is a feature that can be added?

You didn't get any likes with Pink Floyd? Amazing! I'll fix that right now.

Probably as we are old curmudgeons there's not much we like.

In the real world, at the age of a lot of our members, clicking "like" is just not in our DNA. I guess the folks that pay attention to tham see it as important, personally I don't care about nor pay attention to them anyway.

The 'like' button is just too "Facebook" for me.............. Facebookers living only for getting thousands of likes on their posts. Just my opinion though.

I'm with Bob and r1Lark. I will admit to having given a few likes (when I remember to do it), but in general I ignore it. Maybe I'm just too old, but it just seems artificial, simplistic, and childish to me. I didn't even notice the like function for many months after it appeared, and took even longer to notice that I had actually gotten one or two. I'm here because I hope to learn more about Studebakers (and very occasionally teach something about them too) -- not to accumulate some kind of valueless points. The interest in Studebakers may be the only thing in common we have, so it's not surprising that we differ on this issue, too.

My Pink Floyd post got 231 views, 7 responses, and 4 likes. That's a higher percentage than the 'Hardtop rear 1/4 windows' with 1300 views, 12 responses, and no likes!

That thread was from 14 years ago in the forum's "hay day". That was at least 2 versions of the forum software ago. There was not a "like" button then. The "like" button came with this version of the forum software.

Likes for me , are just a way of telling the person that I appreciate the information and learning something I didn't already know.

Rafe, I believe it is generational, my grand kids have NO interest in American history........they could care less what we did, how it turned out and where may we be going. I have the same feeling about the virtual reality goggles yawn-yawn, etc. Don't take it personally, we like your Studebaker "pluck" (how is that for a generational thought !! ). It is a compliment . Anyone out there remember Lou Grants opening line to Mary Richards in the Mary Tyler Moore show ??

                    Thom or Rafe,

You have to realize there are many people here that have axes to grind and they are not lumberjacks or wood cutters. So go negative and maybe you will get more likes.
Like Lou Grant I don't like spunk either. Just kidding but I do remember that line from the late Ed Asner.

I think way faster than I write so I need the edit button; on the racing site I edit & fix 3-5 times at every post...
& I like "likes" too, good for showing you really fancy what someone wrote without having to comment.

I use a few different forums, blogs, and have gone back and forth with various forms of social media... I usually get a feel for how things operate at a given site, then try my best to roll with it. Depending on the venue, how it's run, and the platform or software they're using- it takes varying degrees of effort to adapt to it. Some features are great, some are handy or useful, and others are frustrating/useless/gimmicky. A GM truck forum that I frequent goes heavy on the "likes" and prominently displays how many you've received right next to your post count, but otherwise feels fairly similar to here. I feel oddly obligated to receive (as well as give) them. An interesting bit is that they *do* allow discussions of politics, religion, and cursing, but it's surprisingly civil overall . The Stude truck forum seems reasonably okay, but is lacking useful info on profiles (real name, geographical location, etc)... and features this completely useless system of brownie points that are redeemable for nothing and have no apparent connection to anything related to the forum itself, plus a few other bits of fluff that needn't be. Also appears to be unmoderated, but still seems pretty friendly. And there's one forum I'm on that has hardcore moderators, but is still worth the effort to be there... just have to be strictly on topic and to-the-point. "Likes" have recently been introduced there, and occasionally one is handed out.

As far as this forum... I'm very fond of the lack of gimcrackery and the large amounts of collective knowledge that come to the table . The 10 character requirement is an annoyance, as sometimes a single word or a smilie or two is all that's needed. I'm pretty alright with the "Like" button; I sometimes use it when I get an answer to a question or something, to show that I read it... as "Thanks" is under 10 characters . I tend not to hit it too heavily here mostly because others don't.

Oh yeah... all of the places I use have an "Edit" function- just the one at Curbside Classic expires after 15 minutes.
                        Whirling dervish of misinformation.

Some of the responses to this thread exemplify and demonstrate the musty, dust-laden, worn-out and stodgy vibe/reputation this forum, and club, “enjoys”. People are interested in upbeat, fun, forward-thinking online venues and social media.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, if that’s what you like. But then, no need to scratch our collective heads over why young people leave the forum and the club… even as they have love for the musty, dust-laden, worn-out and stodgy brand that is Studebaker.

                          And so it goes.

Curious, if that Hardtop quarter window post is so old, how come its a few posts under the Pink Floyd?
