  • Body / Glass: new glass 1951 Studebaker Champion Starlight coupe

Does anyone make nice new window replacement glass for my 1951 Starlight coupe?
    Thanks Steve

Others here can tell you the best source for the glass. My recommendation is that you DO NOT buy the rubber gaskets for the Starlight rear windows from Studebaker International. Unfortunately I did and the rubber parts DO NOT FIT THE CAR. Someone here recommended the rubber from Valerie Hanson as being a good fit.

Studebaker International sells a lot of good and useful parts for Studebakers, but this is not one of them.

I got replacement glass, except for the curved back window, from a local auto glass shop. Safety glass all 'round. I had a similar experience with the replacement front and rear gaskets as noted above. The same shop also replacement the inside and outside mirrors.

Most of your local glass shops are getting theirs from Phillips

Valery Hanson continued her stepfather"s (Bill Fennessey) business.
She supplies S.I. with several rubber parts. 615 662 5013.

I believe that she supplies the Starlite coupe rear window rubber to S.I.
Can anyone confirm that The S.I. rubber does not fit?
In all my years selling these , I never had a complaint!

Years ago I was restoring my '51 Starlight and the only rear rubber available was by the foot. It had to be cut and fitted to the curves and glued in the corners. Before I got around to putting it together the four-piece kit became available from Hennessey (now Hansen). I pitched the yardage and bought the kit. Twenty years later and still not a leak.
