  • Engine: Engine head off! Help with oil pump removal.

This weekend I have gotten a lot done on my m5 studebaker truck project. The engine head is off, with no broken bolts. The manifold, fan, waterpump, oil filter, side covers, and some of oil pump is off. Thank god no bolts have broken. The hydraulic oil, trans fluid, and diesel mix work well for bolt removal. Now the oil pump seems to be a problem getting off. The top of it came off with two gears. All that is left is a rod or gear that does not want to come off. How do I take this thing off safely?

You need to pull the gear off the shaft. There is a small woodruf key and a C clip on the shaft, all under the gear.
