  • GT Hawk steering column seal

I'm still working on the engine compartment of my 1963 R2 Hawk
and I have a question about what goes in the large oval hole on
the engine side of the firewall. My car had a very brittle
piece of material similar to the inner fender splash apron with
a thin layer of fiberglass between it and the backside of the
rubber column seal. I haven't seen this in any catalogs, but I
suppose I could make it, if that is what is supposed to be there.
Thanks for your assistance. I really appreciate it!

    R2,
What you're lookin' for is on page 175 of the Studebaker International parts catalog. If you don't have this catalog you can go to the SDC web page and look under vendors. You can call or E-mail them for a catalog. It is part # 1320181X1 Steering Column Seal and is installed from inside the car, price $55.00 Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.
