      • 4 more red X's from JRoberts

        • I deleted those four posts. I tried once again to post pictures but obviously had the same problem. The odd thing that remains is that when I post a photo I come back and check to make sure the dreaded X hasn't replaced the photo. I did that several times last night and the photos were present each time. Then this morning I saw stephenj's post and of course each of the photos had been replaced by a red X. Sorry.

          • This photo from the August 14 Hemmings Daily Blog is gonna be a stretch:

OK, look carefully just below the center of the photo. At the end of a row is a two-tone 1958 Chevrolet, seen from the rear, partially obscured by the lamp pole in the foreground. In front of that '58 Chevrolet, is that a dark-colored, monotone '47-'52 Studebaker sedan parked with its tail to the Chevy's grille?

Also in that photo, third car up from the '53-'54 Ford station wagon, is a 1951 or 1952 Packard; maybe a lighter gray sedan.

I've enlarged this photo somewhat and can't see any other potential Studebakers. BP

            • 9347 --- Besides seeing the Studebaker, I am curious about "the rest of the story" in this photo.

              1. The traffic light at lower right says "GO", yet the only vehicle entering the intersection is the Ford coupe coming from the right on the cross street.
              2. The early 50s Cadillac (the newest or second-newest car in the photo) beside the curb on the far corner, and the late 30s Ford across the crosswalk both have people standing beside them. Unless these are pedestrians who got cut off, did something happen between these two cars?
              3. A police officer appears to be walking into the intersection.
              4. Pedestrians standing beside the store on the far corner appear to be watching whatever is happening.

              • Even the burglar sneaking into the second floor window on the left side stopped what he was doing to watch.

                • #9347...Lots to digest regarding the activity in this pic. The Champion at the light...the "naked chicken butt" trunk ornament indicates this is the cheapest trim Custom Champion, but it has a backup light. The emblem on the side of the front passenger door makes me think it is some kind of municipal fleet car. The trolley can't safely proceed until that bus clears the tracks.

Anybody besides me spot the R-series truck?

                  • 9347 is the corner of Beverly and Vine Streets. Those semaphore signal lights were all kinds of problems. There is a Stop Sign, everyone including the Red Line car is stopped.

I wonder if they could be waiting on a VIP of some sort or a parade. Notice the Mercury with the tripod on its roof.
