  • Engine: help with part numbers

    hello,

I have 3 numbers to identify, I appreciate the help. Let me add to this these are crated brand new engines but I can't find the stamped engine mark, I don't want to wreck the crates. They have small pistons so i'M GUESSING THE 170? Theres 3 total and they are for sale if theres any interest here.

    1548990
    1566003

and this is a casting number on a block, there is no stamped number in the usual spot. 1554641

    thank you!

1548990: standard duty 59-60 six cylinder

1566003 is a very late number and not even in my 65-66 parts book; likely to be a replacement for several superseded part numbers. Would probably only be ID'd in a service letter.

You should be able to tell if it is a V8, Flathead Six or OHV Six. That IS what it is.

The 1554641 casting number should be a V8, it could be either a 259 c.i.d. OR a 289 c.i.d. depending on the Pistons and the Crankshaft, if it has one.

As Skip said, 1566003 is shown in Service Letter N-1967-2. It is a remanufactured engine for OHV 6 w/full flow filter.

I have one flat head 6 engine available, no stamped number on block. This engine is from the factory you were supposed to transfer your old engine number.

I also so have nos 6 cylinder cranks, and nos 289 cranks in various conditions, contact me at
