  • Cool/Heat: Mechanical gremlins located.

My Lark with '66 drive train has run with the temp gauge on hot for years. I got off the freeway in a cloud of steam. Long story short , the radiator had large bubbles, but not boiling hot. Head gasket fail? Found thermostat stuck closed, replaced same and temp is just above half way.

Another annoying problem I had for years. The fuel gauge reads empty always. The trouble shooting I tried lead me to believe the gauge was bad. However, the tank developed a leak when full, via the sending unit gasket. While removing the sending unit, much to my surprise, there was no cork on it. Tried cork from another unit and I now have working fuel quantity reading.

Nice to have everything working properly.

Ain't it nice when it's a simple diagnosis and fix?

Hooray! It's great when things get fixed, especially when you have the satisfaction of fixing them yourself. Good job.
