  • Cool/Heat: Heater hose routing for '62 GT Hawk

Just found out heaters have been by-passed and hose from water pump runs right back into pump. Have no manual and thinking there should also be a flow control valve hidden in there someplace. Please HELP!

Heater control valve is inside the car on the passenger side, attached to the firewall. In your first picture on the left side of the pic, see where the two larger hoses look like they are going thru the firewall? They are actually attached to the heater control valve. The valve is held in by two screws accessed from the engine compartment - you can see one of the screws in your picture.

Thanks, should have looked in (search) before asking what many will say is a silly question and to look it up. Now I have but Thanks again r1lark. Trying to make a deadline (car show in March) and a lot of things to deal with getting this thing in order.

Be aware that the valve was bypassed for a reason. Either the heater core leaks, or the valve either leaks or won't operate to control the coolant flow to the heater core, a common problem. Be prepared to replace parts. and have a large vise grips ready to stop the flow by clamping down on the hose as you discover what's wrong. Eliminating antifreeze smell from your carpet is tough and lingers forever.

Good to know, I'll test everything before carpet.
