  • Engine: Historic question...

... and it never dawned on me until this AM, while reading the Feb 1987 Cooperator..
    Crankshafts...
difference between full-flow and partial flow engines.....

Are the oil holes in late 1962 V8 (full-flow) crankshafts drilled differently than the partial flow crankshafts, making the two non-interchangeable?

Would be news to me. Most any V8 crank (and connecting rods) I've ever had has been swapped into any V8 block and worked well.

The only difference i know of is the lenght of the snout to accommodate all the Avanti pulleys. Otherwise, they are the same.

The main bearing oil holes WERE relocated in the SIX cylinder engines with full-flow. New bearings have two sets of holes in the bearing shell and they can be used in earlier engines as well. However, you CANNOT use the earlier main bearings in a full-flow engine.
