  • Frame / Springs: How to identify frame year and model under a 54 coupe?

The car is a 54 coupe, but the vehicle has had a bunch of modifications. Is there an easy way to tell what frame I actually have? The a pillar brace has two exhaust humps in it, but I think the car was originally a six cylinder car. Would a base champion have provisions for dual exhaust? Fresh paint on the frame indicates the frame and body have been separated if not completely swapped.

Take a look at the serial number (bottom flange of the rearmost crossmember, just ahead of the rear bumper), You may have to wire brush the crossmember, but if you can find the number, you should be able to figure out what the car is.

'58 Packard Hawk. A partially restored car that was not completely assembled.
