  • Body / Glass: 1964 Daytona door question

Does a 64 Daytona 2dr hardtop use the same door as a convertible ? or are there different doors for each one ?

Don't know if they share the same part #,but yes you can swap one for the other.

Yes and no. Below the molding is the same, above is not. The vent window assembly and window for the HT are different from the convertible. The convertible upper is the same as as a '63, since they did not change it when they went to the '64 roof line. Similarly, the windshields for the HT and convertible are different. The '64 HT vent window assemblies are unique, and are like the proverbial hen's teeth.

Doors are the same on all '63 & '64 J & L models. Part nos. are 1352188 right and 1352189 left.

I am no expert on this. but the Hardtop and Conv. Doors should have extra/different reinforcement up front "this would be to support the Wing Window Assembly". if it were a Sedan Door,I feel a little re work/mod would also work

Wouldn't a sedan door have a window frame?

There would be no part number stamped on it anywhere. The door shell shown could be a 1352188 which is the same for the '63 and '64, HT and convertible. The difference between the 64 HT and convertible will be in the vent window assembly, and the window glass. It is also possible that the shell pictured could be a 1352186 which would be for an "F body" 2-dr. SEDAN (the upper frame for the window is a separate part). A picture that shows the door jamb would be helpful in determining which it is.

Yes, but could be removed and then work the front as needed. "I say this if You were in a pinch and could only find a Sedan Door" where there's a will there's a way

I agree with Rerun. I have both models of '64 ( J & L ) and the doors are the same. The VENT windows differ. As for sedan doors the sills are different as the top of a J or L has the pot metal trim and a corresponding lip to mount it. The window regulators are also way different with a lot more pieces on the J & L.

Hi Rob, if I'm getting this right. You're saying the outer door skin "skin only" is shaped different on top between sedans and the others?

                        Rob,
I wasn't aware of the "lip" that you mention. Are you able to tell from the pictures above whether that particular door would be a J/L or F type?

I just realized what Rob is talking about. the Door in the pics above is for Sedans. "as it is flat across the top surface front to rear",HT and Conv. has a flange about 1/2" tall across the top surface front to rear.

Sedan for sure Jim. I would like to know what the distance measures from bottom edge to top edge at the rear of the door skin ?
