  • Engine: Valve Lash

I am being lazy I could go to library and look up the spec for valve adjustment. I am assume that my car has solid lifters the car is a 1962 GT and I am assuming it has the original engine I bought the car on EBay and have spent very little time with it the car is in Fl and I am in WI.
What is the hot and cold valve gap.
    Thanks in advance.

Studebaker never used hydraulic lifters so your car should have solid lifters.

Lash on all 16 valves is .024" hot. For cold add .001 or 2

I just did a Google search and came up with the same thing:

"Studebaker mandates a clearance of between 0.025" and 0.027" for cold engine adjustment"

Studebaker engineers designed the cams with long, slow acceleration ramps with small lobe lifts to ensure quiet valvetrain and long wear life. It also gave plenty of slack should the exhaust valves recess.

So your exact answer is..... : .024 Hot, and .026 Cold, both Intake and Exhaust with a stock grind Camshaft.

                Cold works well.
No rush, cleaner for both you and the engine/car.

Most regrinds only require .018 so be aware of the change if anyone gets a new cam
