  • Body / Glass: Windshield Washer Jar Identification

This is a NOS Studebaker (Trico) windshield wiper jar in a box which says it was a part of AC-1413 for 1947 Studebakers.

I seem to remember they used this style jar up thru 1950, then it changed in '51.

    Can anyone confirm this?

I had one of those in my 62 Gt Hawk.
I think it was part of the Australian content required on imported cars.

I'm kind of surprised they used a glass jar that late, Studebaker switched to a black plastic jar on the Larks in the 60's (not sure exactly when).

Like I said it probably had more to do with the local content provisions than anything else.
In those days imported cars were required to have a certain percentage of locally sourced parts . This may have been one.

The glass jars were still in use at least through '52, though the vacuum pump was under the pedal, rather than on top of the jar.
