  • Engine: 57' GH water temperature

What should the temperature read on the temp guage in a 57 GH? What temperature read would I know that I have a problem? It stays on the notch between 180 and 240 . I assume 210 degrees. Is this within normal functioning parameters
    Thanks

Around 180-degrees is normal cruise. Figure 100-degrees above ambient on hotter days. Automatics run hotter than standard shifts.

      1. Don't rely on a seventy-year-old gauge and sender to indicate the actual operating temperature.
      2. Don' rely on a Harbor Freight Chicom digital remote temperature hand-held.
      3. To get an actual, either plumb in a good quality later gauge, drop in a direct-reading radiator thermometer or take it to a shop with a professional gauge.
