straight 8 bearings

  • Engine: straight 8 bearings

    Hi all. can anyone help me with a set of main bearings for the 250 cu.in L8 motor (1935-1942) l have been able to fit new big ends OK but mains are a struggle , maybe someone knows of an alternative bearing? that i can modify Thanks Guys

    Do you need standard bearings? If so, I may have a set.

      There may be bearing sets available for standard size main bearings. If your crank is undersize, nothing exists. One option is to have the old shells rebabbitted, install in the block, and line-bore to size.

        Reminds me of watching my father trial fitting babbit bearings and "adjusting" them with his pocket knife attached to years of experience/practice.

          Hi jamie, l did get a set of std from robert kaptlyn but alas some were .010 under and there was no rear main in the set, So l would be glad to buy your set , just let me know how much and how l can pay you , just one point , l am in Australia so could budget for postage to me Thanks, buy the way l was able to fit MGB .010 shells to the big ends if that helps anyone
