  • Body / Glass: inside sun visor 1950 truck?

Morning- I am looking for an inside passenger side- sun visor for a 1950 r series c cab truck. I let a friend and his wife drive my
late husband's truck and when it came back the passenger side visor was broke....any help would be appreciated. Thank you-

What part is broken? The cardboard visor or the steel pivot and shaft?

Did they apologize for the damage?

has to be pivot and shaft, visor itself intact. she said she pulled it down for the sun when they drove it, but now it will not flip back up....and that is all the apology/explanation I got

Really...it truly is a different world than I was born into. Rarely, do I ever borrow anything. But, when I do, I try my best to return it as well or better than I received it. If I had damaged a borrowed item, I would go to extraordinary lengths to repair/correct the problem.

I have a very good friend who loaned someone his trailer for hauling hay. That person (an engineer who should know better), overloaded the trailer and caused the tires to rub the fenders to the point that the friction set the hay & trailer on fire. He returned the trailer, parked it out in the pasture, when my friend was not home. It was not until a few weeks later, when my buddy needed the trailer, that he discovered the burned and charred floorboards of his trailer.

As for your "passenger" side visor. Interesting you have one. For what I know, they were "optional." My truck never has had one. I'm thinking that the way they are designed, they are "ambidextrous" and any C cab visor will install on either side. (not sure)

According to the parts manual, the left and right complete assemblies are side specific.

I agree with John that it is a different world today. About 20 years ago a relative let his friend borrow his one owner mint 1941 Chevy 1 1/2 ton truck to haul hay for his horse. That clown thought he should drive the truck at freeway speeds, and he put a rod through the side of the engine. He never offered to pay and the truck got parked behind the garage until it rusted away and got junked. What a waste.

That relative's friend needs a good dope slap, IMO.

I never loan out my cars. No one seems to drive them as carefully as I do. It's OK if they chatter the clutch and hit every pot hole in the road with their car, but not with mine. Whether they do it out of ignorance, or just don't care, the damaging effect on the car is still the same.

Am I selfish? Maybe. Am I fussy about my cars? Definitely! My new cars last me generally 20 years or so. Could that happen if someone else drove them too? No way!

                I agree with Roy.
I also don't lend out my books because in the past they have come back very beat. Too many people mistreat even their own things, and they treat mine even worse.

its a lesson learned for me, but the damage is now done and I need to try to get it taken care of, but rest assured they will never again have the
