  • Engine: engine swap

Hi I have I belive is a 1941 champion 6cyl flathead in my 48 willys jeep its in sad shape.i have a chance to buy a 1950 champion 6cyl but starter is on other side will my bell housing from the 41 bolt up to the 1950 engine block without any problems.

The engine with the starter on the passenger side is from a truck, the other from a passenger car. I'm going to guess that the bell housings will switch. You will have to indicate the bore of the bell housing to be concentric with the crank, and pin it there with dowel pins, though.

You might want to await other opinions on the bell housing fit.

There may also be significant differences in the oil pan configuration. This may or may not be an issue in the jeep. Hopefully knowledgeable folks like StudeRich will chime in to answer this.
