  • Engine: crankshaft I.D.

I'm tearing down an engine that started life in a 60 Lark, but a lot has been done to it, so I need to properly identify it's parts. The crankshaft is a 259 crank, casting number 536452. What I need to know is the part number for this crank. How or where do you measure the difference between the "long nose" & "short nose" cranks? Does the gear on the front of the crank need to be removed for measuring? I wouldn't think so but want to be sure.

Thanks! That makes mine a short nose so the part# is 536454. It should be part of the 60 Lark block.
