  • Body / Glass: Broken Bonnet Cable on 1964 Cruiser

    Hey There,
Can anyone tell me what is the most non destructive way to get the bonnet/hood open on my 1964 Cruiser, seeing that I took delivery of the car with the bonnet fully closed and with the inside bonnet cable mechanism broken.
    Thanks,
    Barry Croker

This question hasn't been asked in a year or two and I'm sure if you use the "Advance Search" in the upper right corner of this page you may be able to find numerous past threads on the subject. Yanks don't reference the hood as a bonnet so avoid that reference in your search.
My recollection is it involves approaching from under and behind the grill panel with a long screwdriver and levering the release to the driver's side or, whichever side that lever seems to prefer in Oz.

Lay on your back, look up between the radiator and grille, and with a very long flat bladed screw driver leaver the bonnet lock until you hear a 'pop'!

And then buy a new cable.
