Engine: oil pan capacity

From my research it seems Stude used a different size oil pan for 51 thru 55 than they did for 56 thru 64 on there V8
engines. Is this the case. Thank You

They used a 6 quart pan that was 1" shallower than the 55 up pans. But much longer on the sump.
This one here has been modified with a 1" drop to bring it back to the later height and increased to 8 quarts cap. For a twin turbo salt run.

So yes Len, the '51-'55 takes 7 Qts. with the Filter and the '56-'64 takes 6 Qts. with the Filter.
