  • Engine: Engine numbers...what do I have

The numbers 127353-2 is stamped on the engine block of a car I just purchased. I believe it is a 1928 Commander engine. Can this be confirmed by the engine numbers?

    12559
3 is stamped on the fuel pump and

    PATENTED 4-28-1925-NO-1,586,044
7-28-1927-NO-1,698,721 is stamped on the manifold.

    Thank you

1928 Commander 6 serial number starts at GB-1 I believe. I don't think Studebaker had any engine numbers with a - in them

Here are a few photos of my 1928 Commander GB Big Six for comparison. The cylinder head is casting #112588-2; the engine serial # is GB11513.

Thanks for your help. I went at the engine with a steel brush and found GE 31596. So, it is a Dictator engine, correct?
