  • Engine: 1948 M15A Champion Rear Main Seal

I have replaced the rear main seal three times and it still leaks. This last time I polished the seal journal to a glassy shine and greased it well. The last time I replaced it, it started leaking after a 5 mile trip. When I removed the seal it appeared that the lip conformed to the journal and had lost it's original form.

Has anyone recently used the seal that SI and SP sells (Best Gasket) and have it not leak??

I'm beginning to suspect that the seals are made from inferior materials...

Really? No one here has recently replaced a rear main seal on a Champion engine?
