  • Body / Glass: 56 commander parkview wagon trim needed/info

My 56 Parkview wagon has an approximately 3/4" hole in the center of the lower tailgate. It looks factory and if it is, I wondered if there is some sort of emblem that belongs there. I am also looking for a nice hood emblem as mine is very faded out.

There is no hole in my 56 wagon tail gate. If you are talking about the crest SI has re-pops. I think I gave $45 for mine.

guess someone drilled it then. I did not see the hood emblem "crest" in the SI catalog so I guess I will look again

I am pretty sure it is 800585. It is on page 47. But call and make sure.

It says "insert only". Does it have some type of bezel it fits in? My car is still in transit so I cant look at it right now.

When you say 3/4" hole in the 'center' does that mean centered, but near the top? A'57 tailgate would be like that, and I think it will fit a '56.

Yes it is perfectly centered near the top of the lower gate.

The 57 & 58 had a slot at the top of the tail gate for the license plate bracket. But 56 did not.

This is a case where pictures could tell us a really good story.
Is there any chance of that happening?

If not- do tell- is this the tail gate that was on the car, or...?
I suspect that you may have a '57/8 tail gate.

I guess someone has changed the size limits on the Forum as was mentioned in this post:

Photobucket is so changed and the Forum no longer takes larger Pics, so after an Hour and Half, I give up.

Anyway the answer is I found a '56 Parkview Tailgate Picture on the Car with a Crest Emblem at the top of the lower Tail Gate, so it would take the framed Plastic Crest that can be installed with a Nut on a stud, but a 1/4 in. hole should do it though.

Computer Systems change Daily and sometimes by the minute, just when I get things figured out... you guessed it, they change what is not broken and does NOT need to be changed!
