  • Cool/Heat: Noisy A/C Clutch Bearing?

    Hi
When I turn on the A/C I get a noticeable rumble from the A/C unit. At least I think it's from the compressor clutch. When the A/C unit is cycled off the noise dissappears. Am I right in thinking I need to replace the clutch bearing?
    Thanks

If you talking York compressor they are kind of noisy in normal operation. Can you see any wobble when it is engaged and running?

      Hi
No I can't see any wobble. I took the belt off and spun the clutch but no noise whatsoever. The clutch is also quite secure. Could it be the load that causes the bearing to fail. It came on all-of-a-sudden at the end of last summer and has continued whenever I run the engine now.
