  • Exhaust: Is there a y pipe out there

My father in-law just got himself a 1964 commander with a V8 with a “3 on the tree”.
It has an exhaust leak at the heat riser, (rt manifold)
the pipe has been bent so I need a new one, and the exhaust shop around here doesn’t want to do any thing with it
My question is …..Is there a y pipe out there that I can order?
From there I can get the exhaust done
    Thanks RussK

I got mine from SASCO, at South Bend, before SI took over, it was NOS.

Studebakers West has a lot of NOS exhaust parts. 650-366-8787

The good thing about NOS is that you can usually count on it to fit, since it was made on the same bending jigs as the cars, by the same guys, who still had the recipe.

Well I have a y pipe ordered for my father in-lays car; I ordered it from one of the suppliers recommended on this thread. I will post when all is done and let you know about the quality and my experience with them.
So in a week or so it may be drivable again
              Thanks RussK

Hi Russ, you need to tell your FIL that Members of the Studebaker Drivers Club are aware of all things Studebaker like parts sources and technical imformation because they all receive the GREAT Monthly Publication "Turning Wheels" this is a must have for Studebaker Owners.

This thread has been such a blessing to me!! RadioRoy had mentioned that Studebakers West had lots of exhaust parts. I called Studebakers West and talked to Carl. They had the crossover pipe, y-pipe and the exhaust pipe for my ’55 President State Sedan. I got the crossover and y-pipe in and they fit like a glove. There is plenty of clearance for the steering. Thank you, RussK for starting the thread.

Did the tractor trailer load of pipes from SASCO sell? I know Ed didn't want to haul and inventory them.

I could be wrong, but I think I remember hearing that most of it was rusty and scrapped.
