  • Exhaust: dual exhaust question

    I have a 56 289 President motor going in a 53 Commander should I get an exhaust for a 53 Commander or a 56 President? Thanks

Dual exhaust was not offered in the '53 Commander coupe. You will need to order--assuming you are going Silvertone--for the '55 coupe duals. You will also need to obtain or fabricate the rear-most hanger for the left side. It was a unique hanger attached to the fuel tank mount. I got one several years ago from Craig Piper at Westmoreland Restorations; probably not a common item.

    Please let me edit!
I don't know why but I jumped to the assumption you were installing a dual exhaust.

Yes it will be duals and I'll make sure to go with a 55 set up. Fabricating brakets is not a problem. Thanks.

The stainless band clamp may not be factory or kosher but, here's my left rear mount.

It's clean and effective, though. Nicely done.
