  • Body / Glass: Hood Alignment

Does anyone have the magic formula for adjusting a hood on a 1953 starliner, after removal. I have tried theway the manual describes, with no success.
When I adjust all the way forward, the hood still hits the cowel in the center.

    Welcome!
Like most of them, the center of your hood has either sagged or been bent down, or both.
If you use the search function, you will see a lot of discussion on this subject, including correction of the hood.
Your hood should be flush with the cowl. This is more important than the forward position.
First - be sure that you have the rubber piece in place on the cowl.
Second - be sure to pull the hood toward you when either raising or lowering it.
Third - use a cloth wrapped board at the center of the hood at the cowl and apply pressure to the hood to reform the center of the hood up slightly.
