  • Ignition: 1964 Commander Distributor

My 1964 I6 Commander came to me without factory documentation. The distributor has an external oiler (sorry, I don't know the correct terminology) that looks like a small tube with a flip cap on top. Does anyone know the following:

    1. The correct quantity of oil?
    and,
    2. The correct oiling interval?

    Thanks!

my memory says: 1-3 drops of light oil every 15K miles or so, about once per 'tune up time'. Don't drown it!

(it is in the shop manuals)

The original recommendation was 1 or 2 drops of SAE 20 oil every 1000 miles. A couple of drops in the oil cup every oil change is good. There is a wick that retains oil inside of the oil cup that lubes the upper shaft bushing. Bud
