  • Engine: 259 temp sensor location

On a 259, is there another location that the coolant temperature sensor can be put that isn't against the firewall in the back of the head?

    Thanks

It could go in the back of the other head, but why the question?

That would be basically the hottest water in the engine. Any where else would be a little cooler. You could put it in place one of the block plugs on the side of the motor.

We do not know the application (Yr. & Model) of your tight fitting Temp. Sender, but if it is too difficult to remove, it will be easier to remove the (2) 1/2" wrench size screws holding the adapter plate to the back of the head.
You will need a new Gasket for the plate and to drain the coolant from Left side of the engine to do the job, using the Block drain at the left rear side of the block just above the Starter.

Are the Front and or Rear Engine Mount Insulators mushy and have allowed the Engine to settle back to the rear?
